Junior Coaching and ANZ Hotshots program: 18 months+

Tennis Australia Pathway
ANZ Tennis Hot Shots is Tennis Australia’s official development program for children. Not only is it heaps of fun, it’s also a great way to encourage your kids to maintain an active lifestyle. Apart from skills like agility, flexibility and speed, the program will help your kids learn important social skills, making lots of friends along the way.

The “learning through play” philosophy encourages kids to have fun, learn and improve tactical skills in tennis situations and build social skills. To find out more about ANZ Tennis Hot Shots click here.

Below is a list of the programs offered at Little Tennis Stars:

Petite: 18 months-3 years (not a Hot Shots Program)
Offered at Child Care Centres, Early Learning Centres and Holmesdale Tennis Club

Little Tennis Stars has specifically created a program catered for children from 18 months – 3 years old. The program adapts “The Moving Child” theory which encourages children to develop their gross motor, fundamental, and perceptual motor skills, use of co-ordination, and most importantly to have fun through play! The Petite Introductory program assists in preparation for ANZ Tennis Hot Shots pathway.

Hot Shots Blue Stage: 3–5 years
At Child Care Centres, Early Learning Centres and Holmesdale Tennis Club

The Blue Stage introduces children to tennis through games and fun activities. Children learn the basics of tennis including how to rally using lots of adapted equipment such as balloons, big balls and beanbags.

Hot Shots Red Stage: 5-8 years At Holmesdale Tennis Club

The red ball is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high (just 25% compression), making it a breeze for even the youngest players to hit comfortably. The courts and nets used in the Red Stage are much smaller making it easier for kids to move around and enjoy success. Red level players may be beginners, improvers or even advanced players.

Hot Shots Orange Stage: 8-10 years
At Holmesdale Tennis Club

After mastering the Red Stage, children move on to the Orange Stage where the ball bounces a little higher (50 per cent compression) and the court is a bit bigger. Kids continue to develop their skills in a modified tennis environment while having a great time.

Hot Shots Green Stage: 9 years +
At Holmesdale Tennis Club

The ball used in the Green stage has a higher compression (75 per cent of a yellow tennis ball) and children play on a full-size court.
