ANZ Tennis Hot Shots

Tennis Australia Pathway

ANZ Tennis Hot Shots is Tennis Australia’s official development program for children. Not only is it heaps of fun, it’s also a great way to encourage your kids to maintain an active lifestyle. Apart from skills like agility, flexibility and speed, the program will help your kids learn important social skills, making lots of friends along the way.

The “learning through play” philosophy encourages kids to have fun, learn tactical skills in tennis situations, improve their skills and build social skills. To find out more about ANZ Tennis Hot Shots click here.

Below is a list of the programs offered at Little Tennis Stars:

Hot Shots Blue Stage 3–5 years

(At Child Care Centres, Early Learning Centres and Collingrove Tennis Club)

The Blue Stage introduces children to tennis through games and fun activities. Children learn the basics of tennis including how to rally using lots of adapted equipment such as balloons, big balls and beanbags.

Hot Shots Red Stage 5-8 years

(At Collingrove Tennis Club)

The red ball is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high (just 25% compression), making it a breeze for even the youngest players to hit comfortably. The courts and nets used in the Red stage are much smaller making it easier for kids to move around and enjoy success. Red level players may be beginners, improvers or even advanced players.

Hot Shots Orange Stage 8-10 years

(At Collingrove Tennis Club)

After mastering the Red stage, children move on to the Orange stage where the ball bounces a little higher (50 per cent compression) and the court is a bit bigger. Kids continue to develop their skills in a modified tennis environment while having a great time.

Hot Shots Green Stage 9 years plus

(At Collingrove Tennis Club)

The ball used in the Green stage has a higher compression (75 per cent of a yellow tennis ball) and children play on a full-size court.

Little Tennis Stars Petite Program

Petite – Introductory Program 18 months – 3 years

(Offered at Child Care Centres, Early Learning Centres and Collingrove Tennis Club)

Little Tennis Stars has specifically created a program catered for children from 18 months-3 years old. The program adapts “The Moving Child” theory which encourages children to develop their gross motor, fundamental, and perceptual motor skills, use of co-ordination, and most importantly having fun through play! The Petite Introductory program assists in preparation for ANZ Tennis Hot Shots pathway.

Children aged 5 years and over

(Offered at Collingrove Tennis Club)

MOVE is Little Tennis Stars’ newly created program offered to children aged from five years old.

The program promises to give children the opportunity to have heaps of fun while developing and mastering dynamic warm-ups, fundamental movement skills, hand-eye coordination skills, body control, balance and movement consistency. Mastering these skills will improve and assist in their succession in tennis and sport in general.

Tennis is a sport that requires all things MOVE! The team at Little Tennis Stars are excited to introduce and run such a valuable program and can’t wait to see the results!

We would like to invite all children aged from five years old to come out and try MOVE for FREE in week 1 of term 4.

Sessions will run each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
